Biography

GACKT CAMUI is the strange name of this very beautiful man, or at least the name we refer to him with. His real name is in fact unknown. Japanese people call him very often GAKUTO (pronounciation: Gakto) but since we are not japanese, let's call him Gackt! (when I meet him, I will ask him his real name but I won't say it to you, hehehe XD)

This wonderful creature (*__*) says he was born in nord-Europe (maybe in Scandinavia) on July, the 4th in 1540, but, as I told you in the Data, he was born in 1973, in Okinawa. However, he has always affirmed, and goes on to do it, that he is 464 years old. He declared it not only during the interviews, but also during TV programs. Moreover, he asserts to have a sort of special powers, such as a very developed sixth sense and an ability to hear, better than anyone else, every single rumour. Because of this, he tells, he has many difficulties to sleep, because his ears are always pricked up to hear everything, the spirits' voices, too. (Despite this, in which you can believe or not, it's a fact that Gackt suffers from insomnia and has to take pills to sleep...)
Gacchan, as the beautiful Hyde (pronunciation: Haido) always calls him, has often told that when he was child, he risked to die: "The episode happened when I was 6, I was swimming in the ocean when suddenly I risked to drown. All of a sudden, instead, I don't know how, I was safe. After this fact, I begun to have these strange powers.
There is a little contradiction in Gackt's words: he says he's 464, but he also talks about his childhood when he lived in Okinawa... This is strange, but, truth to be told... If he looked into my eyes, I would believe him even if he said he can fly and walk on the water!

Gackt's personality is very funny. Even if he tries not to laugh in public, he always says something funny. Sometimes, also when he's serious, he makes all laugh.
He's a perfectionist and when he notices that someone can do something better than he, does everything to improve himself and beat the other! (and he always manages to do it :D). Gackt is also very stubborn and openminded, he wants to do everything at least once, even when they say he's mad ^__^
An example to understand how stubborn he is, is this episode happened during a tour with Malice Mizer.

A programmer of "MERVEILLES" explains to Gackt how to leave the stage, in the end of the song "Le Ciel" (wonderful song!): he will be lifted through air with metallic cables, as he flew. But there is a little problem with the concert hall in Kobe: this is so small, that when Gackt is carried down to be freed audience can see him!

[Gackt= G, Programmer= P] G: I'll stay hanged until everybody will be gone...
P: But... It will need more than 30 minutes!
G: I dont'care.

So the day of the concert, around 30 minutes after the end of Le Ciel....

P: Gackt, you can come down!
G: Has everybody gone away?
P: Actually...NO, there is still someone...
G: Then I'll stay here until they will be gone, too!

It's funny, isn't it?! Gackt is...Wonderful!

However, although he's very talentuos (OBVIOUS) and very famous (IT'S RIGHT), he never takes him seriously and he is very autohironical. (I really suggest you visiting VIDEO section, you will find many funny things! In particular "Mickey Mouse Dance" e "Shingo Mama will Gackt"!)
Gackt is also able to attract attention even when he doesn't want to.... Here is another amusing episode:

Once, Gackt went skiing and he had to buy ski and a ski complete. Going around for a shop he thought: "What colour doesn't attract attention?.....Of course: BLACK!" He bought black ski, black complete, black gloves, black cap! And he was wearing red sunglasses! "Why are they all watching me?!" he wondered...

Another reason to appreciate Gackt (there are 1000+1 reasons...)is that he isn't only a simple "singer": he is singer and songwriter, in fact all the lyrics of his songs were composed by him, as well as his music... As you have already read, he can play many music instruments, that he played in various tv programs, such as Utaban, where he plays piano.

But is Gackt only a singer? The answer is obviously NO!! He's everything! In fact he's also an actor! I've spoken about Moon Child in the data and there is a section dedicated to it, but now I'm going to tell you something new: he had already performed in a film called "HERO'S HERO", which was a drama/storic documentary. Gackt is the narrator and shows us his ability in performing and his melodious voice ^__^
His character is a librarian named "Gackt" who is 642 years old. With him there is a pleasant girl who was 14 (lucky girl!!!), named Ishida Mirai (in the film she maintains her real name, too). Gackt guides her with time travels that follow the life of 3 heroes through the 3 books "HERO'S HERO". These heroes are Masamune Date (japanese samurai), Napoleon and Albert Einstein. He describes their energy, their strenght and their way of life. In the end we hear Doomsday and we are shown parts of Oasis', Vanilla's and Seki ray's videos.
These 3 heroes are GACKT'S HEROES, so I think the meaning of the title of the film is that "The hero Gackt tells us about his heroes"!! ^__^ The last words Gackt says to us are: "And you...Do you have your heroes?" Well, I would answer "Yeeeeeeees, you are my hero!!!!" :D

I hope you enjoyed this summary of Gackt's life (I would have told you all his 464 years of life but...I had homework to do!!!) and I hope also that these details help you to love him more and more! For what concerns my humble opinion, this is what happened to me: at first I liked him because he was beautiful and had a delicious voice, in a second time he has caught me thanks to his personality... And once you are caught by Gackt... I assure you that you can't run away anymore!
