Malice Mizer

Malice Mizer formed in August 1992, thanks to Mana and Közi. They recruited the vocalist Tetsu, the bassist Yu~ki and the drummer Gaz. After the first single, Malice Mizer did an exchange of drummer with the band Kneulid Romance: Gaz joined KR and Kami became the new drummer of MM.

Their first album, MEMOIRE, was released in 1994, followed by another edition of the same album called this time MEMOIRE DX, with an addition of a bonus track. After that, Tetsu, the vocalist, left the band (December 1994) because of "creative differences", how he said... (Takeru: it is evident that he didn't like wearing female clothes XDD)

Malice Mizer didn't produce anything for a year, until our little treasure Gackt became the new vocalist of the band!!! XD

Gackt Advent: - October 1995 ~ January 1999

Gackt joined Malice Mizer in October 1995.
If you're wondering how, I'll explain it briefly, resuming what Gackt himself told in his autobiography "Jihaku".

Gackt defines himself as looking like a Yakuza member in that period, he drove a not common sporting red car; while to describe Mana he says: "He had on long pants, and high heel sandals that looked like wooden clogs. His face was covered by a wide hat and sunglasses…" This look, female gothic already, made Gackt think that Mana was a very carismatic man (and all confirmed his first impression). Gackt was really drawn to him.
They didn't have much of a conversation, in fact Gackt remembers most what he talked about with Mana's friend who came along with him XD
After that, they went to Közi's house and when Közi and Gackt saw each other, he was drawn to him as well. For days they talked about Malice Mizer and the other members listened to Gackt singing and playing many times. At the end, Malice Mizer were born with Gackt as vocalist.
"My target at that time was Asia. It wasn't Tokyo. It wasn't Japan." These were the thougths of Gackt, who had always high targets; he thought: "In Malice Mizer, I could do it!" And.... Well, it happened ^__^

From that moment on, a long series of successes waited for the band.

Their first single was URUWASHI KAMEN NO SHOTAIJO.

After 8 months from the arrival of Gackt, Malice Mizer released their second album, VOYAGE ~SANS RETOUR~. Their popularity really took off after it (thanks to Gacchan!! ^__^)

The band became very popular and took part in many lives, events, tv programmes and appeared many times on the most famous tv magazines. They were dedicated also a weekly radio programme!
They released 6 singles and, most important, their third album, MERVEILLES, in 1998. This album can be found also in a limited edition with the DVD of Bel Air, a short mute film (Takeru: sincererely, I didn't liked it XD) (Momiji: let's be honest: it's horrible! °-°) (Takeru: I agree...) and in a even more limited and expensive edition with CD+DVD in a wonderful carillon that plays the music of Bel Air! (Takeru: I and Momiji have had the honour to see it and if the owners hadn't driven it away from us, we would have slavered on it X°°D)

But just when all was going good, Gackt announced his separation from Malice Mizer (just as Tetsu did). The reasons of this choice are still unknown. In his autobiography, Jihaku, Gackt says something about it but doesn't explain it clearly.

As the things were not bad enough, a tragic event happened: Kami, the drummer of the band, died, because of a stroke (brain haemorrhage). MM decided to take a break after that.

After this break, they released the single SAIKAI NO CHI TO BARA, an instrumental single. Then a boxset in memory of Kami came out. It is called SHINWA and contains 3 songs, 2 written by Kami before his death and 1 written and sunged by Közi.

From that moment on, Gackt begun his solo career, while MM released their 4 album BARA NO SEIDOU with the vocalist Klaha, who became official member of the band in August 2000. With him, Malice Mizer made also a two-days live (the BARA NI IRODORARETA AKUI TO HIGEKI NO MAKUAKE live), the BARA NO KONREI film (Marriage of Roses, it's a silent film but it's good, We've seen it!) and released 3 other singles: Beast of Blood, Gardenia and Gensou Rakuen.

Klaha, real name Masaki Haruna, replaced Gackt properly, thing not easy because of the huge success of him in the band (and not only in it).
I think his attitude and way of acting have played an important role; they fit perfectly in Malice Mizer style (an example: Gardenia).

In December, the 11th 2001, the band announced its dissolution with the sadness and disappointment of all their fans.

WHAT ARE THEY DOING NOW?
The ex-members of Malice Mizer haven't stopped and they have decided to keep on working in the world of music, who as solo artist, who with his own band....
Mana founded a group called Moi Dix Mois and he's the one who gained most success after the dissolution of MM.
Közi and Yu~ki work together, the first one work as solo and Yu~ki plays for him.
Klaha works as solo but his last work appeared in 2004. It's a pity that he's Indie, I think he deserves to work as a Major. However, we hope he comes back soon.
About Tetsu, who seemed disappeared, Momiji and Gardenia suggest "Mana killed him". XD in reality he should be in the band "Nil from Hell" now, while before was in the band "Zigzo".
Gaz, after leaving Malice Mizer, worked in the band "Basier", leaving this one after some months, too. We don't have any notice about him at the moment.
