2014.
Commercial disctrict of Maleppa, where many asiatic cultures mix. Sho, 8, is one of the children called "orphans of Maleppa". Together with his elder brother Shinji and his friend Toshi, survives thanks to the booty of their robberies. One day, after stealing a case full of money to a criminal, Sho meets Kei, an young boy, sleeping; at first, he thinks to steal him his ring and his watch, but when Kei wakes up, he decides to lead him in his hiding-place.

While Sho looks after Kei, the man who was stolen the money comes to the hiding-place searching for revenge. Toshi escapes immediately, Sho is threatened with a gun and escapes, too, but Shinji is injured and can't move. A sudden scream makes Sho decide to come back, curious. Shinji says to him not to go up to there, but the child decides to go on. He sees Kei sucking blood from the man and recognizes him for what he is for real: a vampire.

11 years pass, Sho, 19, is a beautiful boy and, together with Kei and Toshi, survives stealing here and there. Toshi works also in a pizzeria while Shinji, who is lame because of the shot received when he was child, runs a little shop with his girlfriend and has many debts with the local mafia.

One day Sho and his friend decide to attack the Rukai, the local mafia, to take possession of their money. During the exchange of shots they meet a young boy, Son, who has the aim to defeat the Rukai. At the beginning they are mistrusting each other, but after fighting together they become friends; Son invites them to his house, where they meet his younger sister, Yi-che, who takes care of their injuries.

Yi-che has been the target of the Rukai and has lost her voice. But she is a very good artist with the dream of becoming a woman painter. Sho falls in love with Yi-che, but she falls in love with Kei. In spite of this, for the group of friends a time full of joy and amusement begins.

But the evening of the art exhibition of Yi-Che a tragedy happens. Two killers of the Rukai, who have restrained Toshi some hours before (just when he was told that her mother would have come there the day after), come to the park where the group of friend is. Toshi is killed in front of them, but one of the killers dies, too... Sho is disperate. Kei arrives and kills the other man with his powers, then sucks his blood. Son and Yi-Che, after seeing the scene, are shocked. For a long time Kei disappears.

9 years pass. Sho has gathered some immigrants of Maleppa and has created a group to take revenge on the Rukai. Moreover, he has realized his dream of marrying Yi-Che; at first she was not sure, because she loved Kei, but Sho didn't give up and in the end won her love. They also have a beautiful daughter, Hana.
Sho's elder brother, Shinji, owns and runs now a bar, thanks to the help of Sho.

Son is now a member of the Rukai and is enemy of Sho. In the meantime, Kei has been arrested and waits the death sentence in a prison in another state; international police made many searches about him, but didn't discover anything.
Sho hears something about him on TV and decides to go and see him in prison. But Kei seems impassive at all. But when Sho shows to him a photo of Hana, Kei answers and talk a little.

That afternoon, Sho's friends are killed by two young members of the Rukai, while walking down a street. Shinji, armed with a gun, wants to take revenge but is killed, too. While the war of Sho against the mafia goes on, Yi-Che is tried by the conflict between his brother Son and her husband. One day, after a their row in front of the corpse of Shinji, she finds at the and the strenght to say what she feels and starts talking again.

Kei must be transported from the prison in which he is to another because he has to be killed. Before going out, receives a call from Sho, who asks him help because he can't live alone. During the transport, Kei kills the warder who is with him, escapes and come back to Maleppa. Yi-Che is dying and Sho asks Kei to make her a vampire. Kei refuses and gets angry with Sho. They argue a little but then they go together to defeat the boss of the Rukai.

Sho and Kei fight against the members of the Rukai in the hiding-place in which the boy, Toshi and Shinji have grown up. They manage to win, but there is still Son to defeat.
Sho doesn't want the help of Kei to make up the fight and destroys the roof, so that the sun light can enter and Kei can't move.
In a frontal duel, Sho doesn't find the strenght to kill the one who once was his friend, while Son shoots without hesitating.
In the meanwhile the killers of Shinji shoot to Kei. They believe they've killed him and decide to go away but Kei, who is a vampire and so is immortal, stands up and kills them. Then he reaches Sho and after seeing him nearly dead, kills Son and promises Sho to look after his daughter Hana.

Other years pass. Hana decides to follow the example of her mother and becomes a woman painter; as her mother did, she paints in the park, too. She's grown up with Kei, believing that her father was dead. But she doesn't know the truth...

In reality, Sho is alive: that day, Kei saved him the life by transforming him in a vampire. Since that, Sho lived in the shadows, letting Hana believe he was dead because he didn't want her to know he was a vampire.

However, Hana is now an adult and she's able to live alone; she will leave Maleppa the day after, so says thanks to Kei and runs away. He talks with Sho and they make an important decision: go to the beach, place of many recollections, and wait the sunrise to die together.
